For pupils of Newbridge High School, their Community Cohesion Day (CoCo) had an extra sparkle this year with help from Heartland YFC and Graphic Packaging International. A day away from their usual timetables gave pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 the chance to see Coalville, themselves and the people in their community from a new perspective. Leading one of the CoCo workshops were members of Heartland YFC who encouraged pupils to collate their own Diamondville Boxes containing pictures, photos and poetry about what they love about Coalville. The Diamond-Shaped boxes, designed, created and donated by local company Graphic Packaging International were a particular success of the CoCo Day, creating an impressive display at the school for all pupils and visitors to admire. Adam Deacon, senior account coordinator at GPI commented, “We were delighted to be able to get involved with Heartland’s project to promote community relations in our area. This first workshop at Newlands is just the start of Heartland’s ambitions, and the 1000 boxes we have produced for them will be rolled out in schools across the area in the coming months. “It has been great working with Heartland, incorporating their ideas, artwork and specifications for the project – GPI is well known for creating innovative packaging all around the world, so it is a pleasure and privilege to be able to give something back to our own community.”
