So what do we mean by a conveyor system ?

Well, sometimes this refers to a single conveyor that is equipped with complex sensor arrangements, perhaps split into multiple separately powered accumulation zones.

Such a conveyor might be controlled by a Progammable Logic Controller to undertake complex behaviors, stopping and starting the different zones depending on the status of the previous or successive zones, or under the control of a human operator, or both. It may also interact with other conveyors, or industrial pick/place robot arms

More often, however, it refers to a whole group of conveyors, all of which use sensors and PLC's to interact with one another, as well as with external processing machines, robots, and suchlike.

CCL is able to produce the electromechanical aspects of such a collection; the conveyors themselves, the sensors and telemetry etc. We are also - courtesy of our automation department - able to program PLC's to accomplish the interoperability of the conveyors, and their relationship with external machinery et al.

A typical example might be where a processing machine produces an incomplete product, which is carried by a conveyor to a robotic welding station to have work done on it, before being passed on to another conveyor to take into into another processing machine (perhaps a wrapping machine), and so forth. All of the conveyors need to communicate with the processing machines - and the robotic welder - as well as with each other to ensure correct functioning of the overall assembly line.
