Belt Conveyors
Conveyors can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and also with different carrying surfaces.
Probably the most common conveyor type, however, is the Belt Conveyor.
Typically this refers to so-called 'Fabric' belts such as PVC, PU, Silicon, or Rubber
These conveyors are almost always straight. It IS possible to make a belt conveyor to curve, but this is often expensive and somewhat inflexible. (it is possible to get a 90-degree bend conveyor, but other angles become increasingly difficult). Complex loops and curves are out of the question. (we would typically recommend Plastic Modular conveyors for such applications).
PVC belt conveyors are the workhorse of Warehousing and Pick/pack operations
. The belt is rugged and long-lasting, but also relatively inexpensive. For food applications, Polyurethane or Silicon belt conveyors are the belts of choice. These are bacteria-resistant, close-pored, and very easy to clean as a consequence
For heavier-duty non-food applications, a Rubber Belt Conveyor is the material of choice. With multiple layers of reinforcement, these belts are incredibly sturdy, and able to cope with the rough-and-tumble of applications such as waste recycling and rubble clearance.
Each of the above belt conveyor types can feature a low-friction backing to make it easier for the belt to travel over its support plate.Visit the Central Conveyors Limited website for more information on Belt Conveyors
