Spiroflow offers a new course, Introduction to Bulk Solids Handling, led by the company’s Materials Scientist, Dr. Will Weston. Course Date 13-14th June 2016 Course Location Spiroflow Technology Centre in Clitheroe, Lancashire Course Overview Handling and processing powders and bulk solids is an essential element of many manufacturing processes. Some aspects, like powder flow, initially may seem very complex but they can be wholly understood. This course is designed for engineers, scientists or production personnel and will provide an overview of: Subjects Covered Powder characterisation and its practical application Conveying technologies – their strengths and weaknesses How to choose a conveying technology for your application Bulk bag handling – the benefits and practical considerations Handling combustible powders safely and complying with ATEX/DSEAR standards Segregation and separation Mixing theory and equipment overview Drying theory and equipment overview Instrumentation for bulk solids processes Course Team The presenters are all experts in their field and come from leading UK powder processing companies. Dr. Will Weston is head of Materials Science for Spiroflow and has 19 years industrial experience from both an end users’ and equipment suppliers’ perspective. He will be supported by Richard Baker from Russell Finex (sieving and separation), Tim Simpson from Winkworth (mixing) and Andrew Dickens from Phoenix Loss Prevention (ATEX/DSEAR). Venue & Format The course will include both classroom teaching and practical demonstrations. It will be held at the Spiroflow Technology Centre in Clitheroe, Lancashire where participants will see a wide range of powder handling equipment in operation. Participants will also see sample powders tested in the company’s lab providing valuable hands-on practical understanding of different powder characteristics.
