New Materials Conditioner from Spiroflow

16-03-2015

Spiroflow are well used to promoting the flow of difficult materials whether it be from Bulk Bags or into the inlet of one of their mechanical or pneumatic conveyors. However, there are occasions when the material in question needs some additional ‘conditioning’ ahead of processing or packaging. This is especially true when so many materials are imported from far-away places having spent a long time compacted in the humid hold of a ship. To meet this need, Spiroflow have introduced a new range of Friable Material Conditioners. Although, for example, the array of optional flow promoting massagers offered for their range of ‘Spiroflow’ Bulk Bag Dischargers will encourage the discharge of even the most stubborn of materials, these massagers cannot guarantee that materials will be reduced to their individual particles. Agglomerated materials discharged from Bulk Bags will, inevitably, still contain some lumps. It is to de-agglomerate these lumps that the new range of Friable Material Conditioners has been designed. They can be installed under the collection hopper of a Bulk Bag Discharger, above the inlet to a conveyor or at the out let of a conveyor carrying material(s) to a process or packing line. Each Friable Material Conditioner is furnished with a mesh to ensure only material ‘conditioned’ to the correct specification passes to process or packing. Although the range, currently, comprises several standard models, with capacities from 1,000 kg/hr to 10,000 kg/hr, the design is such that special versions can readily be tailored to fit any size and/or shape of hopper. Construction can be of plain carbon steel, coated carbon steel or 304 or 316 grade stainless steel with a variety of finishes – all as the application dictates. Options include a pull out grid for easy cleaning or changing to a different material conditioning specification. Spiroflow confirm that these Conditioners are for sale as stand-alone units as well as integrated components of other equipment in their range. A unit has been installed in the Spiroflow Test Centre and is available for customers to put it through its paces! Spiroflow still offer the comprehensive range of agitators that promote the flow of sticky, cohesive or otherwise difficult materials from sack tip and other hoppers in to their conveyors. However, again, these do not reduce all materials to individual particles the way that the new Friable Material Conditioners will.
