Wind Turbine STEM Challenge
14-07-2023
This week we were privileged to attend and exhibit at The Lincolnshire Institute of Technology’s wind turbine STEM challenge at the Lincolnshire Showground. 17 school teams from around the region were invited to create a working wind turbine model out of everyday recycled material. The incredible design and engineering that went into the turbines was amazing to see, with one of the entries generating over 16 volts when tested in the competition zone.
BGBs Head of Marketing, James Tupper said “…the turbines on show are all remarkable to say they have been made out of everyday rubbish and repurposed into these magnificent working turbines. It’s great to see so many year 9 students interested in recycling, wind and general engineering. And even better to see 2 Grantham schools (KGGS & Ambergate) reaching the top 3!”
The top 3 winners were: - 1st Somercotes Academy, 2nd Kesteven & Grantham Girls School (KGGS), Joint 3rd Ambergate Sports College and Boston Grammar School Team.
Well done to all teams who took part!Visit the BGB website for more information on Wind Turbine STEM Challenge
