Jake & Ethan Pass BGB Apprenticeship

03-09-2025

Yesterday, everyone at BGB UK came together to celebrate Jake Moore and Ethan Lamming on completing their BGB apprenticeships.

Jake began his Engineering apprenticeship four years ago, and Ethan three and a half years ago. Both qualified on 5 August 2025 and are now full-time BGB employees.

Over that time, they gained hands-on experience across every stage of producing world-class rotary solutions—from moulding and assembly through to design and CNC machining. Alongside this, they spent one day a week at Grantham College studying materials science and core engineering principles.

When asked about their favourite part of the programme, Jake said: “Being hands-on and learning from experienced engineers—especially on the machinery side—has been a highlight. Better still, earning while learning.” Ethan added: “Working with good, friendly people on a regular basis made the apprenticeship both educational and fun.”

Nathan Flower, BGB UK Production Manager, commented: “Both lads have been a pleasure to work with. They’ve taken on board the advice, training and our culture to become superb full-time employees. Completing the apprenticeship is a testament to their technical ability, perseverance and hard work, as well as a clear passion for engineering and a willingness to learn. They’ve faced challenges head-on, adapted to new environments and consistently pushed themselves to improve. They have a long future in engineering ahead of them and have made giant steps through the programme to give them the best start to their careers.”

Both Ethan and Jake have requested to enrol on an 18-month HNC in Mechanical Engineering, which they will begin in the coming months.

Thinking about an apprenticeship? Here’s their advice:

  • Ethan: “Listen, learn and take on board any advice from experienced people.”

  • Jake: “Learn from experienced workers. Don’t rush into anything you’re not sure of—be careful and always ask for help when uncertain. Don’t be afraid to speak to your employer to help resolve any problems with the course.”
