BGB Opens Doors For National Manufacturing Day

18-07-2022

Supporting manufacturing and engineering at the grassroots level is so important to ensure we inspire the workforce of tomorrow and generations to come to join manufacturing. Yesterday (Thursday 7th July), as part of MAKE UKs National Manufacturing Day, we opened our doors to schools and the general public for them to learn more about a career in engineering and manufacturing. BGB Sales Director, Nick Herbert said, "An absolutely brilliant day today for the Make UK National Manufacturing Day. Really encouraging to see so many young people want to come to learn more about manufacturing and STEM." As part of the 1-hour slot, visitors were given a brief overview of BGB followed by a tour of the manufacturing facility and ending with a fun task of "Pimp my Wind Turbine" and Q&A session. "What a real positive day it has been and how great was it to see so many young potential future engineers. From asking lots of interesting questions about the wind turbine industry, to wanting more information on the role of an engineer. Well done to the BGB Team and I am sure, like me, you enjoyed every minute of it." Keith Copeland, Continuous Improvement Manager. We thoroughly enjoyed running the open day and now as part of a new wider group of Grantham & South Kesteven manufacturing businesses called GLEAM-SK we will be holding more of them in the future. Thank you to all the students, teachers, local community, Mayor of Grantham, and generally interested people who came to visit us this week.
