Published on Thursday, Jan 14 2016 At Wessex Packaging, we use all types of materials, including various types of cardboard and foam, in order to craft our high quality packaging products. Each type of material has its own specific uses and one of our most adaptable materials 15 Stratocell. Stratocell is a very resilient and flexible closed-cell type of polyethylene foam with a medium-density. Its resilience is what makes it so ideal for a number of different uses, including our top 5 listed below. 1. Preventing Damage One of the main uses for Stratocell is for cushioning delicate products and protecting them from damage. Our standard Startocell sheet sizes are 1200 x 2000 x 50 , however we can supply it in various other levels of thickness too, (ie 13mm, 25mm, 40mm, 60mm, 70mm & 100mm) in order to best protect your product. This cushiony material is highly durable and able to absorb impact on your products during the handling process in order to prevent damage. 2. Separating Products Stratocell is available as thinner foam sheets which is ideal for separating various products which are packaged together, for example electrical items such as wireless speakers. Sliding a Stratocell sheet between each speaker not only makes for better organisation of products but also prevents them from scratching or denting on each other. 3. Reshaping ReshapingStratocell is a very easy material to resize and reshape in order to suit the product you are packaging. Using our band knives& presses and other techniques, we can create the ideal packaging shape to ensure your product has limited movement and a professional look. This makes Strtaocell the ideal material for those awkwardly shaped products which require a little extra support. 4. Storage Due to its high durability, Stratocell is often used for storing important items. It has no odour so does not contaminate the products being stored with a smell over time and is impervious to most chemicals as well as being nonabrasive. All of these factors make it one of the best products for securely storing valuable items and is therefore often used by museums and art galleries to store and preserve historic and valuable items. 5. Surprising Uses As well as being a great product for packaging products, Stratocell is also ideal for creating some other amazing products. You may not be aware of this, but Stratocell is used in the production of surfboards and body boards due to its density and water resistance. Not only is Stratocell used for leisure products, it is also the main material in some life jackets! If you feel Stratocell may be the ideal material for packing your products, get in touch with us today and we will discuss your specific needs. We have a variety of flexible, bespoke packaging options and can find the best solution for you.
