Training Day Success for New Trelawny Distributor

14-08-2013

Trelawny hosted a training day for their newly appointed UK distributor; Fairport Construction Equipment on Tuesday last week. The day was kick started with a warm welcome and a tour of the premises. The Fairport sales team then got to see the offices, warehousing and production lines, whilst meeting all of the Trelawny staff. They then went on to a training course which covered the entire range of Trelawny tools and machines. Area Sales Manager, Glenn Chapman took them through each product individually, explaining how they work with demonstrations and then allowed the chance for each of them to have some hands-on experience. “We feel that these kinds of days are important for our customers as they give the opportunity to fully understand what it is that they will be selling. Once they have that firsthand experience, the game changes altogether in the market!” explained Chapman; “I don’t believe in blind selling. The customer and the product must both be understood.” Fairport Sales Manager Steve Watkinson provided some feedback at the end of the day; “I think it’s been fantastic! The chance to get to know the guys and really get hands-on with the products is a great idea. If a customer has a query or a problem, it helps to have the knowledge and solutions for them straight-away, rather than having to get back to them later.” Fairport will now be using their established reputation and experience to distribute Trelawny equipment into the UK construction market. Trelawny regularly hold training days for both their UK and Export customers, as it also helps nurture the relationship between the supplier and distributor. This is an important factor for the former as they believe that healthy relationships lead to healthy sales figures!
