Parkside Sandwich Wrap Packaging Takes Gold at EFIA Print Awards 2016

23-05-2016

Speciality packaging manufacturer Parkside has taken a top prize at the prestigious European Flexographic Industry Association (EFIA) Print Awards – its third EFIA award in two years. Parkside was awarded gold in the sustainable manufacturing and product innovation category for its Parkscribe® sandwich wrap. The EFIA annual print awards were presented at a ceremony at The Vox, Resorts World in Birmingham last week (March 17, 2016) and recognise excellence in flexographic printing across a number of skills and techniques. Judges complimented Parkside on demonstrating a commitment to leading edge sustainable production and manufacturing whilst delivering new market standards for flexo pack designs. Managing director at Parkside, Nick Smith, said: “Being recognised at these annual awards is testament to the hard work that has gone in to developing our APEX strategy (Advanced Packaging Expertise). We are proud of our achievements to date and will continue to develop and deliver attractive yet practical differentiated products.” Aimed at the convenience category, the Parkscribe wrap is a flexible pack which uses laser scribing technology to form several incisions in the wrap to create an easy open, no fuss, no mess solution. The product is part of the Parkscribe family of packaging solutions, which use laser-scribing technology to create an integral opening of any size, shape or position as part of pack design. This replaces the need for costly tear strips and closures in packs and creates an easy-open solution. Last year, Parkside won awards for its work developing two products including the compostable flexible pack and LIDD®, its revolutionary duplex laminate lidding film, designed for the ready meal market.
