FuturEnviro March 2017 Technical Fact Sheet Industry News - Recycling

05-06-2017

As the cost of sending material to landfill continues to increase throughout Europe, the emphasis placed on recovering optimum, clean fractions of ferrous and non-ferrous material has never been greater. With generations of technical expertise and experience on offer, Eriez are perfectly placed to provide a full range of separation equipment to the recycling industry, serving all requirements and applications. Eriez Eddy Current Separators utilise powerful magnets to separate valuable non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, brass and copper from different waste types. Eriez has over 20 years of experience in the design of Eddy Current Separators and has developed a range of magnetic designs to suit multiple applications, from fine materials to coarse and large scrap processing. The RevX-E models utilise the latest design of the eccentric magnetic rotor providing the greatest recovery of valuable non-ferrous metals for application in automobile shredding, glass cullet, plastics, electronic scrap, co-mingled recyclables, wood and incineration ash. Resulting from extensive research and development, the Eriez eccentric rotor design offers the highest performance on the market in terms of material displacement and reliability. Eriez’ eddy current rotor has been proven by independent third-party testing to throw aluminium ‘fines’ nearly 20% further. This ensures a high recovery of valuable metals that would normally go to landfill as well as allowing the end-user to have a high-grade metal product. The latest ECS design features a smaller diameter magnetic rotor offset at the top of a larger shell with a belt transporting material for separation. The eccentric design focuses the strong eddy currents produced by the magnets into a ‘zone of separation’ at the end of the belt. This repels non-ferrous metals more efficiently, projecting them further from the belt and allowing improved recovery whilst also enabling ferrous material to be released more easily. As a result, long-term wear on the belt is reduced. The rotor position is also adjustable to enable optimum separation of materials The RevX-E models are more compact than Eddy Current Separators of similar capacity, requiring less space and are easier to install in most plant operations. The access panels are also conveniently located for easy servicing. Eriez manufactures three models of eccentric ECS, the ST2 for materials typically between 10-45mm, the ST22 for fines smaller than 15mm and the LT2 for materials over 35mm. For the recovery of aluminium cans, the LC09 ECS is also available for MSW type waste. For complete metal recovery, Eriez Eddy Current Separators are also available as dual-metal separation modules capable of recovering ferrous and non-ferrous metals in one stand-alone machine, built on a single modular frame to allow for ease of use and trouble-free installation. Eriez Eddy Current Separator module combines any width of our robust, reliable Eddy Current Separators with a suitable vibratory feeder and strong Rare Earth or Ferrite magnetic drum (selection dependent upon customer process requirements). The selection of Eddy Currently Separator depends on factors such as product size, percentage of conductive material, product temperature and throughput of the machine, which Eriez’ experienced team can advise on to ensure the most efficient model is specified for the application.
