We are proud to welcome new Sales Director Nick Herbert to the BGB family!
Nick is a graduate mechanical engineer, and has worked across many sectors of the automotive industry throughout his 20 year career, from family-owned SMEs up to large global corporates listed on the NYSE. Thanks to his career to date, he brings with him experience as an engineer, program manager, key account manager and most recently as commercial director.
Nick’s career started as an engineer working for a production line manufacturer in Nottingham supplying Ford and JLR plants. From here he moved to an exhaust and after-treatment manufacturer in Lincolnshire, supplying into heavy duty automotive, off highway and rail industries, where he held R&D, engineering and program management roles. Nick then moved into a business development role in the Tier 1 sector of the automotive industry, firstly with a Japanese and then an American owned company, both supplying highly engineered engine and powertrain components directly into engine plants across the world of customers such as Toyota, Honda, Renault, Ford, JLR and Volvo. It was here that Nick gained significant sales and commercial experience in one of the most competitive industries, with some of the most demanding customers. During this time he was responsible for and oversaw significant growth with Ford, JLR and Volvo both in UK and globally, in some cases winning business over well-established competitors with new technologies.
Prior to joining BGB and most recently, Nick was the Commercial Director at Bri-Stor Systems, an SME sized business that is one of the UK’s leading light commercial vehicle converters. During his time there, he oversaw growth and expansion of the business, including entering the online retail space and growth with OEM customers as well as entering new market sectors not previously supplied to.
Nick grew up in Gloucestershire, moving to the East Midlands when he went to Loughborough University. Since then, Nick has lived in Nottinghamshire, where he still lives today in a small village just outside Nottingham with his wife and 2 dogs. Outside of work, Nick endeavours to stay fit and healthy through swimming and rowing, and has recently taken up golf having never swung a club before. Nick is an ardent and passionate rugby fan, supporting both Leicester Tigers and England.
On speaking of his recent appointment as Sales Director, Nick commented:
"I’m exceptionally excited about joining BGB at the beginning of the journey into our next chapter. BGB has pedigree, reputation, technology and most importantly passion amongst our employees, which will enable growth in the months and years to come, and I look forward immensely to being part of the growth and success of the business going forward”.
