The new Hafner MNH 530 is a single solenoid 5/2-way valve to control a double acting actuator. (Interface according to Namur 1 VDI/VDE3845). By adding the "Flex-Pack", the valve is converted into a 3/2-way Namur valve with exhaust air recirculation "purge". The advantages are obvious as 80% of single solenoid valves are used on double-acting actuators. The solution is to offer a compact, high flow valve where no plate is necessary at all. It is then possible to convert the 5/2 valve to 3/2 for use with spring return actuators by just adding a 5mm thick plate. In this case the air flow from the actuation side to the spring chamber is reduced. Compare Hafner Namur-Flex to solutions in the market: Many companies offer 2 plates for both 5/2 and 3/2 operation, in both instances one plate is used whilst the other is discarded. No other valve conversion plate offers exhaust air recirculation into the spring chamber. A bad solution for process industry where actuators are situated in corrosive environments. Hafner coils offer higher degree of protection due to the polyamide covered yoke. All Hafner valves use an additional O’ring between the operator tube and the coil to protect the electrical part from moisture.
