Chemical focus: Lime/Calcium Hydroxide

06-01-2016

Examination of handling calcium hydroxide aka Lime chemical. As part of the examination of pumping considerations for a list of common chemicals, this week we look to the handling of a vital chemical in waste water treatment: Calcium hydroxide. Calcium hydroxide, or more commonly referred to as 'Lime' is often considered a more demanding chemical to handle as it is poorly soluble in water and is quick to settle in mixing tanks. Verder have been specifying pumps, mixers and combined solutions for many years and have solved settling problems at treatment works. Lime is most commonly dosed as part of waste water treatment for pH correction. Verder has provided dosing pumps and systems both large and small for water companies, commercial businesses such as fisheries and quarries. See a case study here.
