New solution for cold/hot food monitoring saves time and hassle

28-01-2014

Temperature experts at TME have come up with an ingenious solution for cold or hot food monitoring which ensures more accurate results as well as saving time and hassle. Contract caterers tasked with laborious food temperature monitoring regimes can now monitor cold stores or hot cabinets from up to 20m away. TME’s new thermocouple device facilitates instant readings on the actual temperature of food - not just the ambient temperature within the appliance - without even having to open the door. What’s the problem? Busy restaurants and kitchens need to carry out regular spot checks on cold stores, freezers and hot cabinets or ovens; but entering each individual store/cabinet and waiting for readings can involve a lot of time and hassle, and the temperature fluctuations that occur at this point can affect the accuracy of readings or spoil the chilling or cooking process. What’s the solution? By using the TC Wall Port, there’s no need to enter the store or cabinet or even to open the door; you can remotely check temperatures and get an instant reading by just plugging any standard thermocouple thermometer into the handy, wall-mounted port. How does it work? The TC Wall Port is a thermocouple temperature sensor monitoring point which facilitates easy, instant spot checks on any cold/hot storage or cabinet unit. A small white ‘box’, measuring just 52 x 52 mm, the new device can be easily wall-mounted for convenient access. The port is designed for use with a fine wire sensor which connects it with a high accuracy food simulant probe left in-situ or for hot food applications, a high performance black body probe. This allows temperatures to be taken by simply ‘plugging’ a standard thermocouple thermometer into the port - much easier and less time-consuming than entering walk-in freezers or halting chilling or cooking processes. Applications • Walk-in cold stores • Fridges or freezers • Hot cabinets • Large, industrial ovens or rotisseries Compatibility The new device can be used for cold storage with TME’s Food Simulant Probe, and for hot storage or ovens, with TME’s Black Body Probe - both of which more accurately reflect the actual product temperature within an appliance. Also, the front cover is recessed to take an ID or barcode label for use with TME’s MM7000 Bluetooth Barcode logging thermometer to deliver paperless recording.
