Hydraulic Hose Inspection

Manufacturers of hydraulic hoses often require NDT testing methods due to the end use nature of where their products are installed and used. Their hoses can range from low pressure petroleum hose up to very high pressure hydraulic fluid hose found on site machinery or in the automotive industry. This particular application enquiry was to find a non destructive way of ascertaining the lay up configuration (single or double braid) of the hose after the end connectors had been crimped and attached to each end of the pipe. A problem had arose whereby a batch of hose had been supplied to some of their clients and the lay up of these hoses could not be ascertained. These hoses were fitted to site machinery which could not be used until the braiding configuration was confirmed which was causing the end user knock on delays; this was causing a ‘panic situation’ which needed a quick response and solution. The solution was provided in using the Masterscan 380M.
