112 metre pedestrian walkway removed overnight from Northampton

17-05-2018

The 112 metre pedestrian walkway connecting Weston Favell Shopping Centre and Standen’s Barn in Northampton was recently removed and transported to Birmingham by Projector Lifting Service Ltd. The project was completed over four nights to reduce the impact on local businesses and minimise disruption to traffic on a busy stretch of road into, and out of, Northampton. The seven sections, weighing between 9 and 21-tonnes were unbolted and lifted onto specialist transport before being driven under escort to Birmingham where they will be refurbished following 35 years of service. Projector Lifting will be reinstalling the entire pedestrian walkway in approximately 8 weeks’ time.
