Fieldbus modules with IP67 protection are a main component of the machine, replacing complex wired, and thus expensive, terminal boxes. The fieldbus replaces conventional parallel wiring. This saves a lot of space in the control cabinet. The best place for modules is close to the process. They establish the connections from sensors and actuators to the controls via predetermined cables.
