THE DISTINCTIONS BETWEEN TUBES AND HOLLOW BARS

23-06-2018

The Multiform Tubes team puts its years of experience to use in order to create functional pieces of tubing for various needs. One of the ways in which we accomplish this is by using tube reduction. This method allows us to lower the article’s size towards its end section. It has proven its worth in a myriad of applications and we’re confident that it can assist you as well. Why use bars and tubes? Hollow bars and metal tubes are useful for all sorts of structural projects. For one they are more cost efficient than your usual solid metal bar stock. They weigh less, but still offer considerable strength. It’s true that hollow bars and tubing possess similar shapes. However, a fair few differences set them apart. Manufacturing One of the biggest contrasts is within the manufacturing procedure. Professionals make tubes by taking a coil of base metal and running it through a tube mill. After it is formed into the right composition, the tube edges join together using a weld. Welding isn’t necessary with hollow bars though. Instead, we use one of two other strategies. The first is drilling, where you send a drill through a rigid bar stock. The second is centrifugal casting, where you rotate a round mould at extreme speeds as you pour molten metal into it. Materials There are also dissimilarities with the materials used. It’s possible to form a plethora of mediums into welded tubing. You can use the majority of materials to generate hollow bar too. On the other hand, more powerful and denser ones can be too challenging to extrude. That means you may have fewer options if you need a bar. At Multiform Tubes, we strive to meet the highest standards during every one of our projects. We take great care with the manufacturing, monitoring quality throughout. This makes our tubing the perfect choice for heavy wall components. If you would like to find out more about us, whether it is tube reduction or our other services, please contact our company. We are here to assist you in finding the right service and best components for your project.
