The alphaSC advanced slot die coat equipment facilitates the easy execution of repeated precision coatings in a controllable, predictable and reliable manner. This gives the researcher an insight into the variables of the coating process, allowing the user to develop their production methods.
Based on a user interface that allows experimental freedom in the design of coating recipes, the alphaSC is easy to use whilst producing uniform functional films. Control of all primary coating elements allows for high reproducibility between each coating run and high comparability between coated devices. Alongside this the design of the coater enables optimal production batch quality.
The bridge holding the slot die head is is manufactured with easy positioning of the head over substrate in mind and mounts onto a rigid and vibration damping base. The vacuum chuck travels on a precision rail enabling smooth and uniform coating across the length of the substrates. Overall the alphaSC provides a versatile and robust tool for upscaling the coating of functional materials.
The system can be configured with a either manual or automatic positioning of the slot die and with a manual or the motorised programmable height and side shift adjustment all with a resolution of 1µm. Coating speeds can be varied between 0.05 to 5.0 m/min adding further control to the slot die process. In addition to this the parallelism setting and slot die lip straightness of the slot die head provide precise material deposition and limit excess material consumption.
The vacuum chuck can hold substrates up to 300 x 300 mm and has flatness better than 20 µm. With substrate heating capabilities up to 150°C and a surface uniformity of <1°C along with multiple drying options the alphaSC can precisely control all production parameters of your thin film coating.
