A redesign to fix a specific problem with the construction of Crabtree & Evelyn’s luxurious toiletry and gift cartons. The brief High quality, robust packaging was a priority. The client had experienced problems with a previous supplier whereby the rigid windows of cartons were failing before products reached the shelves. It was vital for Graphic Packaging International to find a solution. What we did Graphic Packaging International’s leading technical consultants devised a new style of adhesive application mould, carrying out rigorous testing to achieve a continuous adhesive bond between the rigid window and board that was up to the job. The product Frovi carrier board was used to provide constructional strength and a premium surface finish, with three sided pick and place windows providing maximum product visibility. Colour wise, a special gold was used to give a high quality appearance and colour match - conformance to ISO12647-2 ensured consistent and repeatable use of colour for every additional order. Finally, the use of drip-off matt gloss varnish applied with a plate gave a fine level of gloss detail and enabled a textured matt varnish finish to be achieved.
