Mixed Flow Chamber
The Mixed flow chamber is used mostly for non heat sensitive products such as clay and has the advantage of a long residence time for a shorter chamber as the system takes advantage of atomising from the bottom of the chamber firing the feed upward towards the top of the chamber before falling and dropping from the chamber base. Only non heat sensitive materials should use this configuration as the material is fed directly into the hot air zone. The mixed flow principle can also be applied when large particle diameters, requiring long residence times are required, for example in tile manufacture.
