Eriez Introduces State-of-the-Art MetAlarm Metal Detector for Aggregates Market
Eriez®, a global leader in separation technologies, has announced the launch of its innovative new MetAlarm metal detector, designed specifically for the aggregates sector. This cutting-edge development represents a significant advancement in signal processing and highlights Eriez’ ongoing commitment to delivering customer-focused solutions. Engineered with an emphasis on durability, reliability, and user-friendliness, the MetAlarm was created in response to direct customer feedback, ensuring it meets the industry’s most demanding requirements.
The MetAlarm metal detector is purpose-built for installation in both fixed-site quarries and mobile crushing plants. Its advanced detection algorithms are fine-tuned to reliably identify harmful iron and manganese steel, offering superior protection for crushers, screens, and conveyor belts.
“The MetAlarm is a revolutionary innovation for the aggregates market,” says John Klinge, Director of EMEA Operations & Strategy at Eriez. “It showcases our long-standing tradition of challenging the status quo and setting new standards in magnetic separation, metal detection, and material handling technology.”
Developed in partnership with Cardiff University, the MetAlarm is equipped to tackle the most challenging issues within the aggregates industry. By automating metal detection, the MetAlarm not only boosts productivity and profitability but also reduces health and safety risks associated with the manual inspection of hazardous materials.
Prototype testing of the MetAlarm has received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Heidelberg Materials reported a significant reduction in equipment downtime caused by blockages at its quarry near Pontypridd, Wales. This improvement has led to increased production and throughput, resulting in substantial savings in both cost and time.
“The MetAlarm has far exceeded our expectations, not just in terms of performance and reliability but also in improving process efficiencies,” says Mike Wilkes, General Foreman at Heidelberg Materials’ Craig yr Hesg quarry. “Eriez has proven to be an invaluable partner, delivering tailored solutions to meet our specific needs and providing unmatched customer service.”
The MetAlarm will be officially unveiled at Hillhead 2024, which will be held at the UK’s Hillhead Quarry from 25th to 27th June.
