Labelling of Chemicals
Many chemical products such as paint, varnish, fuels, adhesives, pickling agents, solvents and cleaning agents pose a threat to the environment or human health. Especially if they are flammable, toxic, explosive, corrosive, irritating, carcinogenic, environmentally hazardous or sensitizing. Therefore, these must be marked accordingly. To protect the consumption and the user, special labeling regulations are prescribed for this. The EC ordinance issued in January 2009 introduced the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for the worldwide labeling of hazardous substances in Europe. The classification and labeling law has changed accordingly: Chemicals are now classified according to the same criteria, risks are visibly labeled and user instructions are given for the safe handling of the chemical. ?This approach provides better protection for the consumer and the environment when using chemicals and the associated dangers and risks. When chemicals are exported, the labeling no longer differs in terms of the destination country, which simplifies the chemicals trade.Visit the BBK Labelling and Coding Solutions website for more information on Labelling of Chemicals
